Athens Conservancy and ABRT booths at the 2015 Pawpaw Festival
This bicycle raffle brought in over $800 for the Athens Conservancy, to help with the Athens to Belpre Rail-Trail. Athens Bicycle on Stimson Avenue donated the bike. Chase Bodkin of Cincinnati bought the winning ticket for $1. Bodkin, who works for the Cincinnati Zoo, was delighted by his good fortune. “I’m going on a bike trip next week and had been planning to borrow a friend’s bike but now I’ll be able to ride my own.” This was Bodkin’s first visit to Athens County, but now he plans to return to explore the many local recreational resources, especially the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway.
“This has been a great fundraiser for the Rail-Trail project,” said Athens Conservancy President Bob Scott Placier. “This is the third year that the Athens Bicycle owners, Peter Kotses and Meredith Erlewine, have made the bike raffle possible. We are very grateful for their generous support.”
